Activities

Activities define how different types of bookings work across Wingbase. Every booking has an Activity. It determines who and what is required, how the booking is scheduled, whether it contributes to student progress, and what needs to be recorded when the booking is completed. Wingbase includes built-in Activities for common flight school operations. You can customise these and create your own Activities to match how your school operates.

Built-in Activities

Built-in Activities provide ready-to-use configurations for common types of bookings. The Options, Requirements and Training settings for built-in Activities are defined by Wingbase. You can change their name and colour, enable or disable them, add time before or after bookings, and choose what information is needed when they are completed. If you need a different setup, you can duplicate a built-in Activity and use it as the starting point for a custom Activity. Built-in Activities can also be reset to their original Wingbase settings.

Custom Activities

Custom Activities let you create additional types of bookings for your school. You can create one from scratch or duplicate an existing Activity and use its settings as a starting point. With a custom Activity, you can choose:

• Name and colour
• Options such as multi-day bookings and guest students
• Requirements for a student, instructor, aircraft, simulator or room
• Whether it tracks student progress
• Time before and after bookings
• What Outcome information is recorded
• What Flight Log information is recorded

These settings work together. For example, the Requirements and Training settings determine which Completion options are available. This gives you the flexibility to create Activities for the way your school operates, such as AOC flights, aircraft positioning or proficiency checks. Once a custom Activity has been used for a booking, the settings that define what the Activity is can no longer be changed. You can still change its name, colour, Timing and Completion settings. Custom Activities can be archived when they are no longer needed and restored later.

Across Wingbase

Activities are used throughout Wingbase, not just when a booking is created. Their settings can determine:

• What is required when creating a booking
• How the booking appears in the schedule
• How time before and after the booking is handled
• What needs to be recorded when completing the booking
• What appears in Completions
• Whether the booking contributes to Student Progress
• How recorded information is used for students, aircraft and reports

This keeps each type of booking consistent across Wingbase. Existing bookings keep their Activity if it is later disabled or archived, and completed bookings keep the information that was recorded when they were completed.
